A rope course is not an assault course. It is a flexible facility
which has been designed to meet the needs of the users. "Challenged
by Choice" is in effect at all times. Effective participation on
a rope course is not dependant on strength or on a particular level
of fitness. A sense of adventure and the ability to have fun are
essential. Elements are classified as being either high or low -
the latter are usually less than 1.5 metres from the ground. Courses
are constructed from rope, wire and wood and where appropriate,
comply with all relevant British or European standards. High elements
are used in conjunction with climbing ropes, safety harnesses, helmets
and other equipment more commonly associated with rock climbing.
